Our Churches
Axbridge
Whether you come to worship, or to enjoy the peace, or to marvel at the beauty of the building, welcome to Axbridge Church.
Our church is open daily from around 9.30am – 4.00pm for private prayer and visitors.
We have new Church trails available for children and adults and a Churchyard trail: come and find out more about the history behind our beautiful church.
Shipham
Shipham Parish Church was built in 1843 on the site of a smaller, mediaeval church. The church is Grade 2 Listed, and was extensively re-ordered in 1996.
It is unusual in having an octagonal castellated bell-tower, and an impressive nave roof supported by arch-braced queen post trusses. The tower houses a peal of six bells.
One of the stained glass windows commemorates Hannah More, a local philanthropist.
Rowberrow
There has been Christian Worship at Rowberrow since AD 700 and records show that by 1257, the manor and presumably the church belonged to St Augustine’s Abbey, Bristol. The earliest record of a rector is 1266. Records show that the current tower was built in 1425 and the church was rebuilt in 1865. Rowberrow Parish Records date from 1723.
